Title (Max 100 Characters)
Berea City Council is redistricting the wards because of the growing population in Ward 2.
The City Charter states that when one ward has 10 percent or more residents than another ward, the lines must be redrawn.
The goal is to make the ward populations as even as possible, within 5 percent.
The construction of the Sandstone Ridge housing development greatly increased the number of residents in Ward 2.
Berea must submit the new ward boundaries to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections 60 days before the filing deadline for candidates in the next primary election. That deadline is March 8.
The next primary is May 7.
