Unpaid water bills will be attached to Berea property taxes | Home & Garden
Berea residents and commercial properties with unpaid water and sewer bills will have the delinquent charges attached to their county property tax bills.
Berea Finance Director Dana Kavander said 668 properties were certified as delinquent to the county fiscal officer – 60 percent of those are repeats.
The total owed is $736,000.
The city has collected $7.6 million in delinquent water and sewer charges since 1988 when it began attaching them to property taxes.
The unpaid bills come with a 20 percent penalty and an 18 percent interest rate.
Kavander said payment plans can be arranged.
