Middleburg Heights Restaurant helps Make-A-Wish Foundation | Community Spirit

Cleveland area firefighters are again teaming up with Rivals Sports Grille in Middleburg Heights to raise funds for Make-A-Wish® Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana. At Rivals' Raise the Ladder™ events on four consecutive Thursdays starting May 10, firefighters from nearly a dozen departments will raise a projected goal of $6,000.

The inaugural event in 2011 brought solid crowds to Rivals Sports Grille to help the fire departments "Raise the Ladder" of donations. Participants are looking forward to helping another child, and possibly two, this year.

"Last year we had the opportunity to send Dylan of Akron to LEGOLAND in San Diego. The smile on Dylan's face when he found out his wish was coming true was an inspiration for everyone"," says Mike Mohnickey, a Middleburg Heights firefighter who will serve as one of his department's bartenders.  

Joining the Middleburg Heights Fire Department will be firefighters Olmsted Falls, Berea, North Royalton, Brooklyn, Brook Park, Lakewood, North Ridgeville, Cleveland Hopkins Airport, Parma and Strongsville.

Development Associate Kim Sazima for Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana, says, "You get such a wonderful feeling in your heart, seeing the happiness on these kids' faces when you tell them about their up-and-coming wish plans."

Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana has granted nearly 11,000 wishes during its 28-year history. That's a lot of happiness for a lot of kids.
